The Attraction Of Indonesia Islands

Indonesia is also known as the largest archipelago country in the world. Its location that straddling the equator at 95°LE – 141°LE is extended as long as about 5.000 km or about 3,200 miles from Sabang that is located in the northern Sumatra to Merauke in Papua. The numbers of Indonesia islands are more than 17,000 with five major landmasses that are to say Sumatra, Java, Kalimantan or Borneo, Sulawesi or Celebes and Papua which is the western half of Papua New Guinea. The smaller Indonesia islands are including Maluku or Moluccas, Nusa Tenggara along with its Komodo island as well as Bali which is also known worldwide as ‘God’s land’ due to its gorgeous and wonderful sceneries, beaches, traditional customs and culture along with the friendly residents.

Each of Indonesia islands represents its unique and different culture, customs, topographies yet they are united as a wonderful country called Indonesia. Nearly all Indonesia islands are very fertile that almost 14% of their lands are grown with thick forests. The flora in Indonesia islands are divided into four major: the tropical rain forests, the monsoon forest, savannah and steppe as well as moss forest. The islands of Sumatra, Kalimantan, Sulawesi and Papua are where we can mainly find tropical rain forests; while monsoon forest can be found in the island of East Java, Nusa Tenggara and South Sulawesi. Savanna and steppe can be easily found in East and West Nusa Tenggara and Madura.

Indonesia islands not only rich with gorgeous flora that vary tremendously, but also with gorgeous fauna. Some are even one of a kind in all over the world. Basically, the fauna or animal in Indonesia islands is categorized into three major types:

  • Asiatic fauna: animals that have similar characteristics with animals in Asia such as elephants, monkeys, tigers, etc. Such animals are commonly found in Sumatra, Kalimantan and Java.
  • Australis fauna: animals that have similar characteristics with animals in Australia such as kangaroo, civet, polecat, etc.
  • Transitory Fauna: animals that have no similarity either with ones in Asia and Australia. In fact, the type of animals here are one of a kind in the world such as komodo, boar, cockatoo.

Indonesia islands are very gorgeous and rich in its flora and fauna as well as its different culture and customs. As a matter of fact, such difference has made the particular Indonesia islands become more and more attractive to explore. So, why don’t you see it for yourself?
